Culinary low

Mike and I just hit a low point in our culinary careers when we both decided that we were too lazy to run to the store (which admittedly is across the street) to buy more spaghetti or mostaccioli and opted instead to just break up the lasagna noodles we happened to have into more manageable bits.

Sad.

Our meal did not look like this. Thanks to jeffreyw on Flickr for making us look bad.

Spaghetti sauce nonsense

Yesterday I was looking for some cheap spaghetti sauce to fulfill part of the “vegetable” section of my daily food pyramid when I broke out laughing in the grocery aisle.

I could spend $2 on a jar of the “mushroom” variety sauce or splurge and fork over an extra 50 cents for the “fresh mushroom” flavor. Really? Who the heck are they trying to fool? Fresh right out of the jar?!

These are fresh mushrooms. Great pic by Nikki L. on Flickr.

Pshaw! I’ll keep my two quarters thank you very much!

Dining options

There are leftovers galore in the fridge.

Options include:

10-day-old ratatouille

eight-day-old watermelon

week-old spaghetti

six-day-old spaghetti

two-day-old PB & J that sat in the back of Cassy and Justin’s broiling car all Saturday while we finished the Triple Bypass

Nothing’s growing mold yet, so I’m probably alright. Plus, my colon could use a good cleaning.
