Fish ‘n chips

This is just too hilarious not to share.

And here’s a little blurb that I wrote for Net Assets, an independent school magazine that I write for:

Think your goldfish has a hankering for wide open spaces? Look no further than “Fish on Wheels,” which, just like its name suggests, gives Goldie a chance to see new places by setting an aquarium on wheels. Powered by an arduino (a small programmable microchip), battery and a few other techie bits, a camera above the tank watches the fish and based on its movements, attempts to steer the swimmer in whichever direction it seems to want to go. Dutch inventors at Studio Diip call it “an attempts to liberate fish all over the world.”

Basketball vocab

Went over to Adam and Em’s to watch the final game of the NCAA tournament. We were rooting for Kentucky in support of Randy, so in the last minutes of the game, Mike offers the team a bit of encouragement: “Come on, guys. Score some more of those basketball points!”

Our kids, if we have them, are doomed to be enormous nerds.

Benefits of good TP

I typically scoff when my husband mandates that we purchase the super soft, plush, gentle-enough-for-a-baby’s-bottom toilet paper. But I have to admit that it’s been a lifesaver for my recent hyper congested, blow-my-nose-every-five-minutes affliction.

So here’s a toast (of Emergen-C) to Mike’s tender tushy!

Busy roads: Pros and cons

You know, living on a relatively busy road definitely has its downsides: namely hearing the sounds of traffic almost constantly.

However, when vehicles crash into the median, ram into the road sign, send a stream of sparks into the air and scatter car debris–including a bumper–along the road, which other speedsters then run over for the next 30 minutes, living on a busy road is a genuine source of entertainment.

It’s happened three times so far and has yet to get old.

This guy may well have rammed into the sign outside my house. Thanks to zombieite for the pic.
